Using Your Words to Increase Your Worth

Using Your Words to Increase Your Worth

Amber D. Nelson, Founder and President of Lingo Consulting, shared a great workshop at Education Day 2014 about how to communicate our impact. When we talk about our organizations, do we talk about being a little nonprofit or helping people, or do we talk about transforming lives and our world? Do we talk about volunteers as people who do little things to help out or do we talk about them as agents of change? One of Amber’s many recommendations: listen to how you talk about your work and make small changes. For example, instead of saying  ‘I’m just a volunteer,’ talk about saving animals’ lives, making kids successful in school, etc.
